Foods That You Should Eat To Keep Arteries Clean And Healthy

Your heart transfers 3000 gallons of clean blood daily to every organ of your body and requires arteries to do the job, making them an essential component of the body. Arteries are a significant component of the circulatory system transporting blood and oxygen to every cell of the body, and just like any other muscle, your heart needs a continuous supply of blood too, and coronary arteries are assigned that job. In case if an artery is blocked, it can stop the flow of blood in the body causing many problems. 

What causes the blockage of the Arteries?

High Cholesterol and Lifestyle can cause a plaque to build up in your arteries and in return, narrowing them. The arteries get hardened and thinned. Atherosclerosis is the hardening of the arteries. The hardness and the thickness cause dysfunctional arteries. As a result, some of the vital organs or the organs fed blood by those arteries don’t get proper blood flow. Atherosclerosis is the buildup of fat and cholesterol in the inner walls of the artery, also known as plaques. These plaques cause abnormal blood flow to the heart muscle by clogging the artery. Without an adequate supply of oxygen and other nutrients to the heart, you can get chest pains known as Agina. If blood is cut off entirely from one portion of the heart or if the heart requires more energy than is supplied to it, then you can get the heart attack, an injury to the muscle. 

Heart disease is one of the leading cause of death among men and women in the World Wide. For patients who have no risk of heart disease, the risk of having heart disease in the future are around 3.6% in men and less than 1% in women. In Case of having multiple factors increases the lifetime risk of heart diseases to 37.5% for men and 18.3% for women. 

Foods to keep Arteries healthy and clean

Even though there is a risk of blocked artery diseases in both men and women, a slight change in diet can prevent that from happening:

Oranges

Orange is the perfect item for clogged arteries because of the high levels of pectin found in it. It absorbs the bad cholesterol and prevents the body from absorbing it. Oranges are also rich in potassium which counteracts against the sodium intake, keeping blood pressure in check. Some researchers have also found out that orange can neutralise proteins that cause tissues to scar and prevents congestive heart failure.

Kale

Even though all the greens are good for your health, kale is even more useful as it is rich in antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acids, and fiber. Kale should be instilled permanently in your diet if you are at risk of artery disease and those who want to prevent it in the future. 

Water Spinach

Water Spinach is a readily available item rich not only in antioxidants but also in Vitamins A and C. Combined; these three ingredients prevent cholesterol from oxidising inside the body.

Pomegranate Juice

Fresh Pomegranate Juice with sugar is one of the best items to unclog arteries. According to the research done by the American Journal of Cardiology, drinking 240ml of fresh pomegranate juice for 18 months daily reduced the risk of carotid artery disease. Pomegranate Juice has high levels of Punic Acid and Antioxidants which prevent plaque from building up in the arteries and Atherosclerosis from happening.

Sesame Seeds

A study in 2006 showed that Sesame seeds are good for atherosclerosis as they contain fatty acids that are useful in preventing cholesterol, blood cholesterol, and triglycerides.

Lemon 

Lemon or even Lemon Juice are both excellent for your heart health. Lemons are good for reducing cholesterol levels and prevent oxidative damage to arteries. Lemons are fruits high in Vitamin C, which prevents inflammation, increases good cholesterol and reduces bad cholesterol and strengthens arteries. 

Dark Chocolate

Consuming Dark Chocolate is another way of preventing arteries from clogging up. It contains a high level of cocoa and a rich compound called flavonols, which increases the flexibility of the blood vessels and promotes low blood pressure and prevents the risk of heart diseases.

Garlic

Garlic like orange is one of the best foods for people who artery diseases or want to prevent them. Garlic is helpful in reducing blood pressure and artery plaque. A study has found that Garlic contains an enzyme known as Angiotensin that is useful in constricting the blood vessels. Another research found that people who were taking garlic daily in pill form with a plaque in their arteries saw a 50% reduction in plaque buildup.

Lentils

According to International Studies, people who consume more lentils have reduced risk of heart diseases. Lentils are rich in magnesium, protein, and potassium, all the nutrients which are used to reduce the plaque in the arteries. Lentils are also useful in reducing high blood pressure.

Clogged Arteries are a big issue and can cause heart problems like Coronary Artery Disease, which can further lead to a heart attack. The disease is preventable with a few lifestyles and diet changes. Increasing the intake of naturally occurring items such as fruits and vegetables can significantly help people who have artery diseases or want to avoid it.
